What do you mean when you use the term emo? Is this a slang term for something else or a comparison between two people? Please explain, I have been trying to figure it out by myself for a couple weeks now and I just can't seem to find any explanation of what it means. Thanks for your help.

its short for "emotional" ... its depressing people, who attempt suicidal stuff ........ i have tons at my school. and no, they dont all dress in black, and they usually keep to themselves ... there way different then goths. oh ya, and there not all gay, and rich, and w/e ... its a depressed person.

Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock.
Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.
Now days emo is also like a style. If someone dresses emo it means they are dressing semi goth
Like a Goth, only much less dark and much more Harry Potter.

It's come to refer to a scene of (mostly teenagers) who dress in an amalgamation of skater and goth fashion and listen to unoriginal pop-punk music. They're often cast as angsty and dramatic. I don't know much about the scene, not being a part of it, but I do know the music sucks.
It originally referred to sub-genre of punk or post-punk where the lyrics of the music were supposed to be more emotionally open. It wasn't much better than the current musical emo movement.

Emo is short for emotional. Usually 'emos' are very 'emotional', that's why they're 'depressed' all the time, and they cut themselves.
They should be called attens, because all they really want is attention.
