Not the cervix. Theres an enzyme in the head of the sperm that eats away at the mucas membrane thats in the cervix. AKA the mucas plug. Its the same enzyme that eats away at the egg to get in. This can cause some thinning to the cervix. But your wife can also lose her plug several times. I myself lost it 2 times with my last one.

I've always heard that theres a hormone in semen that is supposed to do that. but i think it only does towards the end of pregnancy, which is why some people suggest having sex if you want to induce labor yourself.

Oxytocin is a hormone that performs a variety of functions. One of them is to assist in cirvical dilation and uterine contraction. Another is an increased tolerance to pain and stress relief. In fact, when women are having difficulty delivering, they are often injects with pitocin, which is a variety of oxytocin.

Oxytocin is also secreted into the blood during orgasm, and to lesser extents during pleasurable touching of any kind. It is contained in semen, so if you want to think of your genitalia as an 'oxytocin applicator', you're more than welcome to. ( :

Yes it slightly does, that's why physicians tell you to have sex when your getting close to having the baby. To soften the cervix and help things along.

no. not significantly. The actual act of intercourse will help though. semen contains a chemical that may actually stimulate contractions.

I dont think so, ive never heard of that, and it is fine to have sex with your partner, and ive had a doctor encourage it to help bring on the labour further on, something about having the orgasim gets the contractions started or something like that???
