My son had to have a debate on abortion in high school. His last statements were about a scenerio that if a young unwed mother had a 2 yr old and was having another baby and couldn't afford it .The father wasn't around and she had no to help her. She decided abortion would be the answer. He argued that it would be better to kill the 2 yr. old because the mom already had baby clothes and she could breast feed the new baby so she would be saving money. The 2 yr old would require new clothes as she grew and food which would cost the young mom. He got everyone's attention by stating that the new baby's life is just as important as the 2 yr old and that the mom could save money by keeping the baby! She would also have 2 yrs to get better off financially before the baby would need clothes!Hope this helps and I hope you are against killing any baby!Baby's deserve the right to live, abortion shouldn't be used as birth control either, and having a baby is much more thatn about money or age.

Before abortion was legal, many women would do it partway. They would stick coat hangers or some other sharp object into their vagina. They would then go bleeding into a doctors office with a damaged almost dead fetus and the doctor would have to terminate the pregnancy. This complicated things greatly because many women would then become sterile, have other problems, or even possibly die. I believe that if abortion was to again become illegal, the same thing would happen. Abortion will happen whether it is legal or not. Some people believe it is ok because without the mother, the fetus would not be able to live. It is comparable to a parasitic relationship. Other people think, on adoption, is that their are already so many children in the care of the government that are not getting adopted, why put another in that situation? There are plenty of children to adopt!

I disagree with it unless it's due to a rape or molestation case. People always just think everything is disposable. Babies are not something you "throw away". We have to learn to make better decisions so that we don't even have to have abortion as an option. I got pregnant unexpectedly when I was very young, and I could've aborted. My life would be easier, but not better if I had've done that. Once I held my son in my arms, all selfish thoughts went right out the window. We go to jail if we commit a crime. Why should we not have to "pay" for our consequences of getting pregnant, whether it was planned or not. We should have to face our mistakes. Children are beautiful, and I feel I made the right decision by not aborting. I can't imagine my life if I had. God gives us gifts, we shouldn't kill them. Hope that helps.

Technically, I'm pro choice. Not because I approve of abortion in any and all cases, however. I could never have an abortion. But I think it's a moral issue, NOT a legal one. Whether a woman/girl has an abortion or not should be up to the people directly involved, God, and the woman's doctor. Society and the law should stay out of it.

I don't believe in abortion unless used in extreme cases like rape. A lot of people use it as a method of birth control, and that is just cruel in my opinion, especially if it is later in the pregnancy.
My dad always said "If you're grown enough to lay, you're grown enough to pay," meaning if you engage in the act of getting pregnant, you need to follow through with it. That is an innocent child inside you who, like anybody else, deserves the right to live. How would you feel if your mom just decided she didn't want you anymore and put a hit out on you? A lot of people don't consider it killing the baby or embryo or fetus or whatever you want to call it but you are denying it the chance at life.
I don't, however, agree with the government taking the woman's right to choose away. Although I don't really agree with abortion, I say that it should be left to the discretion of the "mother".

I got an abortion and before it I believed it was simply the woman's choice. It affects you more than you realize it will and it made me extremely depressed and suicidal for a long time. I think that the places that perform abortions should inform you better of what they're going to do and all the ways it can affect you. The place I went to only made me feel like it was my only choice and I wanted to back out but felt like I couldn't because of how I was treated.
Now I would never get an abortion, no matter the situation. I still think it should be the woman's choice. But I'm completely against it for myself.

I think it is a great alternitive and option for those who need it. I agree a woman/girl should be counsled before and after the procedure, and know all their options before making the decision, in most cases this is not offered. But abortion can have a great impact on ones life and emotions, and spiritual well being.
I know there are many prolife woman and men everywhere, but being a woman, if someone tells me that I didn't have complete control of my body, and have the right to make decisions with what I do with it, I would be devistated,.
sometimes birth control fails woman, sometimes we are human and make mistakes, sometimes there are situations that would later on create problems if a pregnancy was braught to term unwillingly.
I am prochioce. and proud. fight for our rights,.

abortion is so wrong. just because a woman made a mistake does not give her full rights and priveleges to destroy a growing life. I am not saying she should be there as a mom but to go through with it and then give the little one to a good family. if a woman was raped, I think she should go into counseling to help cope with the retched effects of rape and decide what to do with the life in her. How would you feel if you mum had wanted to kill you just because you were inconvenient? The fetus and all the way back to the little cells are still life despite our dissasscoiation of life with feelings and whatever else we deem as living. mother's fault or not, there is absolutely NO excuse for murder.

I think the woman's right to choose is exercised when she sleeps with a man she's not married to. After that, the child's right to live overrides her preference to be not pregnant. If she wants a choice, she should choose to keep her knees together. Abortion is wrong. Good luck in class!

I think someone should do what they feel is right. Everyone has different opinions on the issue. I personally had one when I was 17 years old. I was not ready to have a baby and was very unresponsible. Now I am 30 and have a beautiful 2 year old little boy that I can take care of. I have never regreted what I did when I was 17.
