Depends on the popularity of the programme, it dosn't take all that long for us to get quality shows such as Without A Trace and ER, not sure what series you are on in America. But some programmes such as NCIS look pretty old, I think your way ahead on the series "The 4400" It seems this is the case by looking at the official website, the last season of the supernatural Programme Charmed is still being shown over here on a main terrestrial channel, I'm quite sure this finished ages ago on American television and the second series of "Lost" has just finished, I don't know if series three is already on US television or not. And finally one of my favourite shows "Battlestar Galactica", this is currently series two but on UK satellite television.

well lets see here, it all depends on how the TV programing is being sent...if it is on film, and sent by boat, they maybe a few weeks to a month...
film on an airplane will be there in a day or two..
and if your watching the Televising program and traveling by boat, it could take you any ways from a week to a month, but I bet you the television program will have changed by the time you get to the UK.

now if your talking about the television air waves and it some one in the UK had an antenna, I do not think they would get the television programing at all.
but now if your talking satellite TV...they can see it the same exact time we watch them..bu maybe at a half a second behind...
so smile,
be happy your in this country so you can get the programing almost instantly...

smile, have fun..........

It varies depending on the channel package that you subscribe to and the popularity of the programme.

Our terrestrial (free) TV gets popular US programmes anything up to a year later, but many will also have been shown on suscription TV (like Sky) sometimes as little as a month or two later.

If I'm remembering this right, I think in the early nineties we actually got the new episodes of Roseanne a couple of days before you did. But that's probably the only time it's ever happened I think. We usually finish the last series of something just as you're about to start the new one.

Depends on the show, using Lost as an example, the last show of the second series was shown a week ago.

American news channels reach us almost instantly!

Stuff like Lost can take a few months.

Most of it (Will & Grace etc etc) is total crap though, so I wish it would take much much longer.

You look pretty tasty by the way? Wanna let me give you a tour of London?

Hopefully your rubbish never reaches here.

Your first sentence worries me... "I'm American and I was wondering"

Not many Americans have the necessary equipment for wondering with.
