Ph.D is a non-instructional, research based course. The minimum eligibility requirement is usually a post-graduate degree in any faculty from a recognised university. The candidate is required to do research under the guidance of a recognised research supervisor. The application for registration should be accompanied by a research proposal preferably prepared in consultation with a recognised research guide.

As to your query about topic of the articles etc. it would be better if you take advice from the guide under whom you will study. He may be able to tell you about the lastest topics of interest.

There is no objectin for you take employment simultaneously or altenatively as well.
