Well, considering 80% of the country is against it, a lot.

1. Marriage is and has been defined between 1 man and 1 woman. Nature has us reproduce this way. There is a reason for it. Children turn out healthy when they have a mom and a dad.

2. Gay marriage proponents are trying to circumvent the legislative process and use the courts. This completely violates our government. The moment we allow unelected and unaccountable judges to make laws is the day we are no longer a free country.

As a gay conservative, the only argument I have is the same one made by rightwingers and by Chainsaw in his point #2.

The law does not already gurantee "equal rights for gays" and unless the voters of a state have said so, judges have no business interpretting the state constitution that way. The judges' responsibility is to interpret law the way it was meant to be interpretted. They must not make law like the ones in Massachusetts did. I have read the Massachusetts "opinion" and as far as I'm concerned it is a big, fat, stinking lie.

They are saying that if you want gay marriage try the Democratic process instead of disobeying the laws like in San Francisco.

It would also be nice if you could have it put in place by vote instead of judicial order..

They are saying gay marriage is wrong. Marriage is for a man and a woman and that's it. Here's a good one: It's Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

People are trying to use man's laws against God's children. No wonder we aren't getting anywhere! Judge not lest ye be judged. What would Jesus do? Hate gay people? Love thy neighbor, and trust God to judge.

I'm saying that there are other avenues they can use, like power of attorney. There are plenty of other legal options they can use without using the institution of marriage.
