The pill, taken accurately, is 97-99% accurate. It takes about a month for the pill to really take effect so if you are missing pills in the first month its effectiveness decreases severely. Also the effectiveness decreases in the other month if you don't take it correctly. Your friend may not have gotten pregnant this way but that is only because she is incredibly lucky. If you don't take each and every pill than you might as well not be taking them. They are designed to be taken every day to be effective.

The pill is 99.9% accurate if taken correctly. You need to take it every day at about the same time. If you missed 7 pills in a row, you should start your period again and then you would start a new pack of pills on the Sunday following the last day of your period. Also, you would need to use "back-up" contraception in the mean time. It usually takes about 30 days for the pill to "work it's way through" your system. In the meantime, you should use an alternate form of contraception.

The pill is like 99% accurate if ti is taken correctly, but every time you miss a pill that percentage goes down!!! You should take it everyday at the same time if you want to be safe!!!

You need to switch to another form of birth control, or you will likely be posting another message on this board about how your period's late and asking about symptoms of early pregnancy... I suggest Mirena IUD or Depo-Provera injections. These both can be done at the Doctor's office or at Planned Parenthood. They charge you based on your income at Planned Parenthood if money is an issue.

The patch might be good, too, but you still have to remember to replace it, and it doesn't sound like you're up for that.

Do you think you might secretly be trying to get pregnant, since its odd to say you forgot it 7 times in one month? By the way, use another form of birth control or abstain from sex for the next 2 months, unless you do want to be pregnant.

You are really rolling the dice if you're relying on that to keep you from getting pregnant. I would say that your friend is lucky she didn't get pregnant after missing a few doses. I wouldn't recommend rolling the dice if you aren't ready to be a parent.

How does anyone forget for 7 days?, switch methods to something like a patch where you only change it weekly or monthly
