Everyone has a philosophy on life, even if they can't put it into words.

Having a philosophy mearly give a person a battle-cry in life. Unfortunately it is the people with these battle-cries who get the credit while the ones who go day to day living the ideals get little to no recognition.
Example: Do unto others, pass it on, give if you can... or any other similar saying...
Who gets more credit for living life this way? The millionaire who gives $100,000 a year and wastes many times that? Or the person barely getting by who helps at soup kitchens and serves those less fortunate on a weekly basis? Which one is giving more of themselves?

Having is philosophy is nothing if you do not have the sufficient actions to back it up. Don't HAVE a philosophy...LIVE your philosophy.

philosophy-- A system of values by which one lives. I think that even if most people do not know that they have a philosophy, they still have values. They might be instilled by a church, club, or a school of thought .Most people have codes they live by or lines drawn in the sand of how far that they will delve into something. So I do not consider people aimless, maybe less motivated then they rest of the type A personality's. They just have lower expectations or goals.

"Everybody's a philosopher, these days."

Who said that...?

It's true. Everybody, whether they realize it or not, has a philosophy. We seek reasons, we seek meaning, we seek value. Although there are some who claim to be nihilistic, that nothing means anythng, their very claim-- communicating that they think nothing means anything-- implies that there is meaning to their words. And if we go on communicating, this implies that there is purpose or value in communcation.

Either they are correct, or they are mistaken. Whichever one it is, would remain true regardless of whether they commmunicated their proposition or not. If they go on insisting that their communication has value and meaning, all the while insisting that existence is pointless, they are contradicting themselves.

People tend to ACT as though existence has value and meaning even if they do not express it verbally. We try to preserve our lives, even if we are injured and can anticipate a long life as an invalid afterward. We protest cruelty and injustice, even though there might be times when we could personally benefit from taking someone else's belongings.

Someone may not have a philosophy that they have verbalized, even to themselves. But people, self-aware, adults of normal intellect generally do have a view of the world. We are driven to make sense out of what we see; moral sense as well as physical sense.

We are now at a time in our history when people are claiming that various sciences tell the whole story; that they have proven that we came from unaware and morally inert sources-- mere matter and energy. At the same time, many people are struggling with the concepts of rights and responsibilities. If we came from matter and energy, and if we will never be anything but matter and energy, then rights and responsibilities are an illusion. Nothing can ever conclusively be called "right" or "wrong". (Ultimately, they are religious concepts.)

Everybody has a philosophy. Some systems of thought may be very crude and not fully developed. Some people are too afraid to express theirs, even to themselves. Some have not examined their philosophy to see where it leads, whether to hope or to despair, and decided whether they wish to keep following that philosophy. But everybody has one.

No.. . . . .sometimes they have a philosophy but sometimes it also changes.
I'm not sure how to explain it. . . . . beliefs and ideas change so a person might not always have a philosophy and are just living life until something sparks their interest.

I consider someone aimless if they're not driven and aren't living for something, esp. their future

Not necessarily.

Perhaps they are actively looking for their philosophy...and that has an aim.

Maybe they just haven't figured it out yet. It's ok. It takes some people longer than others.
