Do you experience this as true? Would you share an example of it in your own life?

i'm adding details... i meant what i said. it is kind of related to creating your reality. you have to believe it is possible for you before you can experience it... maybe shouldn't have been put in this category... but, oh, well...

This is also the title of one of Dyer's better books.

I have seen this in action, both in myself and in other people. Our brains have great filters that help to make high speed decisions .. and the filters drop data that does not make any sense.

One of the classic examples is that the Islanders who met Columbus did not really believe that he came by ship ..because that was impossible.

I haven't really seen it too often in myself.

One example is:
Starting about 4 years ago I started to try and learn Japanese .. and when I started I could not really differentiate the Japanese syllables. They just ran together. And I thought it impossible. Then I saw some of my buddies in a class and making headway. I then got some cd's and listened everyday for at least 1/2 hr for a month .. and one day to my surprise they began to make sense. I could at least most of the time hear and pronounce the words. I got to where I wanted to me at the time .. and did not really want the bother and expense of going to a class. I regret that some now.

Another experence is that I was open that people can experence all sorts of things in mediation. And, I began to take meditation classes. In time, althought I cannot reproduce it at will, I have had the super slow down and super speed up effects that one sometimes sees on the TV ads. But if I try and explain that to some of my computer colleuges .. they think that I am touched .. that something is terribly off, instead of something that just happens with training. This then sometimes opens up a beauty that normally was blind to in the outside world.

I think the way you have stated it is actually the more common experience for most people. In fact, there was a scientist several years ago (don't remember his name) who studied the "discoveries" of other scientists and found that many will flat out reject data that doesn't support their hypothesis - even when the data are accurate.

I think the phrase is "I'll believe it when I see it". Regardless of that considering you most likely meant that I will answer. Like for example, your loser Uncle who borrowed money 4 years ago keeps telling you he will pay you, you might say "I'll believe it when I see it".

Definitely.

That's how I feel about "god". "I'll believe it when I see it."

Until I get some evidence, religion is just a bunch of hooey.
