If, as you say, you are researching this for a paper, The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has a website that is very helpful in researching mechanisms of injury: http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/
You can also look on WebMD: http://www.webmd.com
or Emedicine: http://www.emedicine.com

Many skating accidents with broken arms are of the radius, the bone between your thumb and elbone. (The simple wrist guard prevents this easily!) If a skater falls the natural reaction is to put your arm out in front of you to protect your head. This happened to me and I now use wrist guards!
Good luck with your paper.
