My boyfriend was vaccinating cattle and got stuck in the hand with the needle. It's not bleeding nor is it swelling, but it hurts pretty bad.Is the vaccine harmful to him, or , merely irritating?

If he starts mooing, call 911 immediatley. Sorry, I couldn't help it. If it was a sterile needle and hadn't been in a bovine and all he did was prick himself, I'm sure he will be fine. He wouldn't have gotten enough vaccine to hurt him.

If it starts swelling then I would call 911. I poked myself with a needle when vaccinating my horse and I'm still here to talk about it. I don't remember what I was giving him though.

i once stuck a needle in my hand while giving my horse a sedative i don't remember pushing the plunger but i was OK for 30 minuets then i had a racing heart i called for an ambulance and when i got to the hospital my heart had stopped i was resuscitated but the doctor said i was lucky as theres no antidote for this luckily there was not enough in my body to kill me had any more gone in i would of been dead i would go and get checked out and the doctor would check with the poison unit if you know what the drug was if you go make sure you take it with you good luck

Depends on what the vaccine was for.

It depends on what vaccination it was and how much of it went into him.

I'd say introduction of any unknown foreign substance into the body warrants a trip to the doctor.

He probably had better consult a physician on the matter immediately.

I would contact a vet who specialized in large animals and ask them.
