When I was a kid I had a pet goldfish one day I brought home a friend for him and put him in the bowl the next day when it was
time to feed the fish I discovered that the first goldfish ate the new guy guess he didn't like the company?! lol.

Are there certain goldfish you can't mix?! I think he was a beta.

He met an unfortunate fate when my Mom flushed him down
the toilet she said he was stinky.

You cannot mix goldfish with Betas. Betas, especially males should be kept alone. With that said, dont keep your goldfish in a bowl. Get a small tank with a filter. Goldfish can live in a bowl but you constantly have to change the water because goldfish are basically carp and are one of the nastiest fish that there is. You can mix most types of goldfish but some of the fancier type (bubble eyed, long finned) do better alone or with others that are like them. Sometimes they will get picked on because of there fins and bulging eyes....Good luck!

gold fish can mix. It is just that a bigger ones tend to eat smaller ones. As long as they are pretty equal in size they should get along fine. In could have been a fluke or territoral gold fish. I wouldn't hesitate to mix goldfish. I would try it again easy. Go for it. It was probably a fluke. I have kept goldfish together plenty of times.

Goldfish like all fish will eat any fish that will fit in their mouths. If it was a betta it may have started the fight, and then got eaten.

PS- A betta is not related to a goldfish.

I don't think you can put male betas with anything. My 2 goldfish get along great. One is almost 3 years old now. I hear goldfish can live for many many years.

Goldfish and bettas are 2 completely different fish. So are you talking about goldfish or bettas or all fish?

Fancy goldfish can supposedly get along with catfish, cory cats, loaches and plecos. I have never tried to put them with anything other ten each other as they will wait till your not looking and pick on anything smaller then them.

NO! Goldfish could never be stored in a similar tank as tropical fish. Why? Take your %.: a million) The goldfish's metabolic fee will enhance, meaning the fish will die until now this is going to. 2) Goldfish are super waste machines that are ideally suitable to ponds. 3) Tropical water can not dissolve as plenty oxygen as cooler water, so the fish will could breathe speedier to compensate for the lack of oxygen, which back, will shorten its lifespan. 4) Many tropical fish are sufficiently small to in fantastic condition into the mouth of the goldfish (by using the time this is completely grown), meaning they would be considered as honest sport by using the time the goldfish is super sufficient. //Edit// ALL fish supply off ammonia, however the bigger the fish, the better the bioload, meaning the goldfish will produce greater ammonia than the tropicals.
