I've owned three HP computers, every single one of them was noisy, one reason I don't buy them, and don't like them.

If the hard disk is making noise that you can actually hear, you need to call HP and get it replaced.
I hear the cooling fan spin up & down as the CPU heats/cools, but not the HDD.
