I take it every1 else brags about their kids being dry all night since they were a year old?lol
All kids r different my daughter was such a heavy sleeper a brass band could of played right thro' her room without rousing her!! U can imagine how bad it was trying to persuade her to get up in the night incase she might need? I had so many nights changing bedding u have my sympathy
So what I really recommend is an Anuretic alarm (not sure of spelling) try your health visitor, practise nurse or sympathetic Dr if you have 1.
Its a gr8 device dead simple and if your son is a typical boy he'll love the idea of a gadget. Don't worry it doesn't electrocute him if he gets wet!! It just sets off an alarm and u can come and get him out of bed to toilet or potty. He'll b half asleep at first. After only a few accidents tho' it might wake him up quite quickly if he does not like the noise. It works great you'll b amazed!
You want 2 get this sorted b4 he starts school as neither of u want any more interrupted sleep. He'll b wanting to stay over with friends or go on holidays as a family without worrying about the laundry!?

Whoever said it's not normal is thick! Of course it's normal! They can be dry at night anytime between 2.5-5ys...sometimes even longer! My son is 4 in December, and he's no where near ready to be dry at night...and I'm not going to rush him either, cos then it will take twice as long, and will end up stressing him out, and making the whole thing worse.
Their bladder's naturally mature and are able to hold in urine for longer, but this happens at different rates for different children. If you see a sign that he's ready, ie, his nappy being pretty dry in the morning, then maybe try putting some pants inside his nappy, and letting him get excited about finding out whether they're wet in the morning. He might be able to train himself to go longer, in order to find dry pants..because at the end of the day, some children wee in a nappy because it's there, and they won't get out and go to the toilet if they don't have to. So although you need to be looking for signs that he's ready and then encouraging him, you cannot rush it or pressure him...if he's not ready, he's not ready, end of.
Remember, no one need know, so don't worry about it.

Your son will be dry when you stop worry about it its no big deal
are you making sure he doesn't drink a great deal before bed and going to the toilet before bed take him to the Lou when you go to bed to so his bladder is empty
(or use a small jar so you don;t wake him to much in the middle of the night)

One of my 3 kids went till about age 6. Not every night about once a week, it was because she is a heavy sleeper. i stopped giving her watery drinks after 4 pm and just a glass of milk about an hour before bed. seem to do the trick.

This is not normal, you should trained your child , normally a child of 2 to 3 years get consious about dryness.so consult a peadiatrician ,he will guide you how to train your child, this is a disease which is called bedwetting, but required training more than medicine.
for example ,
1. do not give liquids including water before 2 hours to sleep.
2. make him go to toilet before he sleep.
3 train him , that he should alarm you whenver he require to go to pee.
4. do not give rice , potato , some starchy food during night.
5. for the near about first 6 month you have to wake up in the night in the intervel of 3 hours, and make him to pee ,2 or 3 times in night, after that he will become habitual and he will do it consiouly.
hope my answer help you.

My sons the same it doesn't really matter how old he is you just have to be patient till he is ready until then get in touch with your health visitor and she can put you in touch with someone who can give you better advice as soon as he was four he should of be getting free nappies or night pants.

Hi!
I asked our pediatrician a couple of weeks ago, she says that 10% of 5 years olds are still in nappies/pull ups at night, so we shouldn't worry too much but gently try it regularly. Apparently parents put themselves under huge amounts of pressure and should just try it out once in a while, and at least discuss it with their child.
Seems to me your son is perfectly normal! :)

I was late to be dry at nights and then i found out it is partially hereditary, by my farther obviously. Trick is not to tell them off but encourage dry nights i.e. celebrate & reward. I was very insecure at an early age because i was led to believe it was my fault but am extravert now. IHope this helps. best of luck.

my son is 10 and still has accidents,we ruled out any medical problem with doctor and visited a enuresis clinic, we have to limit drinks 1 hour before bed. wee, teeth and wee again before bed to fully empty bladder, they dont recomend that you wake the child in the night as this will not train their bladder to hold it in. he feels to old for training nappies so he has plastic on his bedding and we end up doing alot of washing. also we have to measure his wee, get him to wee in a special jug, and write down the measurement, as time goes on the size his bladder can hold will increase hence helping to reduce the wet nights. our daughter 9 also wets bed, i did till i was 12 and my brother still does it now 38 so dont worry to much and dont make a fuss as it makes them feel worse.
