leaking flapper

I also believe you have a leak? take the lid off of your toilet (be care-full these are made of porcelain)
close to the floor or wall there should be a water valve Turn it OFF.examine if it has a rubber ball or what appears to be like a flapper (it will be attached to the flush handle) Some you can remove by simply pulling the flapper up and out, it will be around the overflow pipe (as you look down on it, it will look like an open pipe. If it has a ball, then just unscrew it, sometimes these can give you a fit, if so you will have to unhook the wire that attaches it then unscrew it . Go to the hardware store and get a new one and reverse the process. Good Luck

Sounds like the flapper -the rubber part that seats in the hole where the new
water exits after you flush it. Try this - turn the water off to the toilet, flush it, sponge up excess water, lift the flapper up and with a dry towel, wipe clean
both rubber parts - a lot of times slime and other crud will build up and it
won't seal right and the water seeps out.

flapper not sealing, thereby water filling toilet and when it fills to the proper amount it forces the toilet to flush...you can also flush it by dumping a pail of water in a toilet

Either you or your toilet may be in need of serious help! I strongly suggest that you consult your health care provider or plumber in that order.
