when I put it into 4 wheel drive to go up a hill, or thru mud, or snow, when the hubs come under load they click very loudly, it seems like the auto hubs in the front are not fully actuating and as a result they are slipping. if anyone can give me advice on this I would really appreciate it.

i realize this is a resubmit but I also need to point out that the hubs have been taken off and inspected and there is no apparent damage or extreme wear on them they seem to be in very good shape.

the boots are fine, the bearings have been repacked, and are in good shape, what I really need to know is how the hubs are locked in, or at least the process behind that so I can trouble shoot it from there. and please no more simple answers if you are jsut going to assume that it needs to be greased then I dont want to hear from you.

Time to go out and buy a set of manual locking hubs from WARN. That way unlocked is unlocked save gas too. Isuzu hubs will be three times as expensive. And of course repack the front wheel bearings replace the front brake pads rotors and rebuild both front axles because the boots are torn. And while your already dirty replace the ball joints top and bottom. And throw on a set of new shocks. That about covers it 15 year old truck

It is probably the cv joints which are behind the hubs also manual hubs give less trouble .
