Do what you like best. Realistically you could probably get more steady work as a cook, (Especially if you go all out and become a professional chef.) but maybe not. Why not study both, and if the Science based job isn't working out, take a break and work as a cook/chef. I think you can do a double major, can't you? If not, go for Science first, then go to a reputable chef's school and train. Being able to work in two professions is not a bad idea.

Major in science, but take a course on cooking during the summer. Use it to get a job cooking in a restaurant, part-time in Winter, full-time in summer. This will give you an income, and experience doing something you enjoy.

You are lucky, because you have two possible careers. Who knows, you may eventually decide to open your own eatery some day. IF that is a possibility, when you get to college take a few business courses, especially intro finance and intro marketing. Maybe intro cost accounting as well.

Over the long run you will make more money in science, UNLESS you open your own restaurant down the road.

Cooking professionally is very difficult work, hot environment, standing on your feet constantly, and if you're not the head chef in the kitchen, its very tedious to do anything less
Science, on the other hand is possibly routine, same procedure over and over -
You probably stand a chance being more creative and stimulated as a scientist

Cooking, you can go farther with it, well at least I think so, I mean think of it this way, you can excell in both subjects, so think of it like T.V channels, Discovery and Food Network, which one would you rather have a show on??

where is your heart really at? I love to cook but that is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. It's really all in what you want to do.
