Stumped....any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

the way i look at is you've spent around a hundred dollars already . maybe you can't afford not to take to a shop. an egr valve for that blazer is going to cost about 150-200 dollars and may not be the problem. go ahead and keep spending. idle control valve 75-100 dollars. go ahead and keep spending.

clogged cat. converter. creating back pressure on engine. tripping egr valve. killing engine due to load at idle. when reving engine egr bypasses to the engine compartment making the whining sound and burning smell. really simple change catallytic converter.

Once an exhaust gas recirculator goes out, there's not much you can do to "fix" it.

Go buy a new one. Oh, and a gasket too.

Why don't you take it to a mechanic? You can go to a Chevy Dealership and ask one of the mechanics there.
