That is a rather absurd question. Do you still have the same clothes as you did when you were a child? Do you play with the same toys? Do you react the same to situations currently as you did when you were 4 years old?

Obviously the answers are no, no and no and that is because our desires and passions change as we mature.

This sounds like a question that only those born into money would ask as they have never had to appreciate anything before and therefore can not understand someone who is willing to do most anything to make their lives better.

Also, why should anyone be completely satisfied with what they have. Not only are we trying to provide for ourselves, but to also provide for our children and our children's childrens' futures.

If that were the case, then we as humans would still be living in a hunting and gathering society, naked and without internet. We always are looking for something better, not because we're greedy, selfish, or unappreciative. I find that we are a species of beings that continually improve upon the works of the past, with our ultimate goal being the total enlightenment... or destruction of our society.

All because we want something better than what we have.

Human nature not to be contented. Think bout it...the mother of invention is necissity...but is it really necissity or man wanting something else? If we were satisfied with what we had, you wouldnt be asking this question on a computer, cooking your steak, or even talking!. Bakc to the cave man we shall go!!

Because some people have children and are trying trying to provide an environment that will promote a healthy and productive future. Some people don't have much and don't want to see their children deprived.

Because most of the people do not have heck of a lot:
For example consider this boy:

Do you think it is reasonable to expect him to be satisfied with what he has?

I would be but for one thing: society continually pressures me till there's nothing in my wallet. Then I have to go get. If the people are happy, they will be made unhappy. This is what capitalism does to ensure you go to work next week.

It's in our obsolete genes to always strive for something better....the need to progress as a species, as in the evolutionary sense. If we were to stagnate, we'd end up extinct like the neandertals.
