Les Paul, I think was one of the first to use electric guitars. Google him. Or check out Five Town College in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York, that's a college for modern musicians. They should have information to help you.

Go to Yahoo----click on images above the search box and do a search on "early electric guitars". Lots of photos there. While you are there, do a search on "first electric guitar".
