Advantages: lots of natural resources, loads of land to accomodate urban sprawl, lots of unspoiled wilderness which means lots of clean water.
Disadvantages: Very difficult for the military to patrol our borders, especially in the arctic, difficulty in promoting nationalism and national unity.
