My daughter is having a hard time learning how to read...any suggestions?

The best method I would recommend would be to begin teaching your child phonics.....the sound of the letters...
so the child can learn to sound out words once the letter sounds are learned.....
Example: a..either sounds like itself or sounds like ahhh, the short and long sound.
You might also have her checked to see if she is dyslexic.
This is a common learning problem, when a child sees letters in a mirror image. A child can be trained out of it.

Use a phonics based reading approach. Realize though, that reading is a developmental skill, and your five year old just might not be quite ready. That doesn't mean she will always struggle at reading, She might just start off a little slower.

try leap frog products....they say it work really good....the best is to read to them when they are younger....and its not too late for a 5 y/o....have picture books....
