I'm 23 - she was married to my dad for 25 years. He left her and she is now becoming a beautifully independent woman. She is marrying her college sweetheart this winter and I want to get them something "special" and not on their registery. Any thoughts? I love them both and want it to be more than a note or letter. Something thoughtful and well organized. A scrapbook is already being made by his daughter. I would gladly devote time and energy to create something wonderful....but can't think of a place to start!??!?!?!

If it is within your means then something engraved with their names and the date of the wedding is always a very cherished gift. It can be anything from a beautiful wedding blanket for them to snuggle up with on slow evenings or Steriling silver Goblets that they can use every year of their anniversary.

You know what I REALLY wanted but didn't have time or presence of mind to get? They sell these huge mattes for large picture framing and the wedding and reception guests sign the matting, then you frame the gorgeous photo of your choice. That will hang in their home, last a lifetime and bear a memory of your thoughtfulness (or would that be mine ;-D lol just kidding). Try that! Have fun, I LOVE how you called her "beautifully independent" ~ it shows what a good daughter you are. Blessings to your family!

maybe give them couples massages, or something like that being that we do not know what ur mother and her man like it is a lil hard to really say what would be the best idea. my mother is a nature person so i might get them something that they would like involving that like a sweet lil bed and breakfast somewhere in the country with a walking path near by where they can get away and enjoy each other. or maybe being that they are college sweethearts maybe talk to mom and re enact a date they had or if they danced to certain music back then include it in the wedding reception and have a cd made for them to remember where it all began .
