I had this problem with my little guy at the same age. Chances are he is finding it difficult because his stool is becoming thicker and he is trying to figure out the amount of pressure to use. Breastfed babies can go 7-10 days at this age without a bowel movement and not be constipated, I believe it is 5-7 days for formula fed babies. You will know that he is constipated if hard pebble like stool comes out, if it is not hard he is not constipated. If this does happen then start out by giving him some fruit juice mixed with water, rub his belly in circular motions and bycycle his feet. If none of this works then contact your pediatrician (which you should do anyway) to see if you can give him a stool softener. Good Luck!

I would advise Karo Syrup that's what my mom used for us as well as my niece's it is really easy on the stomach and simple to use and you can mix with with any fruit juice or drink that they like and there is no taste so it's also easy to give make sure it's the clear one they have a darker colored one too but I've never seen anyone give that one to a child GOOD LUCK just a few drops if don't work first time do again in two hours later.

My son had a horrible constipation problem when he was one and two month's old. My Doctor had me put 1 teaspoon of Karo Syrup into 4 ounces of water and let him drink it out of a bottle. Worked everytime.

Sometimes the formula constipates them. Is he on juice yet? You could try some diluted prune juice. Check the baby isle for maybe like a pedicare product. You could try a bottle of water during the day to help loosen him up.

All advise here use it, I would not use your little finger for anal stimulation b/c this could do much more damager to his rectum. When you stimulate you need to use a tip of a thermometer and only put it in a very small bit. I would try the sitz bath (baking soda & Water), Karo syrup in bottle, then lastly stimulation. Make sure you are feeling the tone of your infants tummy, if it starts getting hard instead of soft and he/she still hasn't stooled you need to call your PCP.

Be very careful, I went through the same thing 13 years ago with my daughter. I ended up having to take her to a gastramoligist and she had a hernia, and that was making her constipated. If the problem keeps up take her to the doctor.

(KARO SYRUP) add a teaspoon full to his bottle, and he should
be pooping in about 5 to 10 min. when my baby's were constipated that is what their pediatrician told me to do . add it to bottle of formula , if he doesn't poop within 5 to10 min. give a little longer, but it should work it worked for mine ,and now their 9 and 7 years old.

Put him in a warm bath with baking soda in it. You will have to clean up the results but if he is suffering from constipation then this will get him going. He will feel much better afterwards.
