Not even the Saints were truly without Sin....

But yes, I do believe people can change for the better or worse. It's all a mindset... people can change their outlook on life and change habits.. it all comes down to one thing.

Willpower.

Depends how you define "saint". Originally, in the Bible, the term "saint" only meant a person "set apart" for a specific use by God. It doesn't mean "sinlessly perfect" or any such thing.

Consider the lives of Christ's first followers - Peter denied His Lord, James and John tried to jockey for privileged positions of power in the eternal kingdom, Thomas initially refused to believe in Christ's resurrection. None of them were sinlessly perfect - nor were they ever sinlessly perfect in this life - Christians aren't fully "sanctified" or cleansed until we're with Him in eternity.

But that's not how the Bible uses the term. The Bible uses the term "saint" simply to refer to those who have been "set apart" and now belong to Jesus Christ - in other words, "saint" = "true Christian".

As for you last question - absolutely, I believe a person can truly change for the better. I know it to be ture, because Christ has changed my life inexorably, permanently for the better.

Best to you.

You can make changes either way, I've seen people make drastic changes in their appearance and/or lifestyle. Not always to their benefit.

Before drugs took over I knew one guy who was always so happy and smiling all the time. He really seemed to enjoy life, but then didn't see him for a whie. The next time I did I almost didn't recognize him. He looked awful, unshaven, unwashed, his clothes were in tatters. He had wouldn't smile, wouldn't look people in the eye and almost seemed like he wanted to hide.

As for saints we all idealize our heroes, finding out that they had faults is always a letdown. If they were human then they did not always lead a saintly life.
