It depends on the method of birth control. Just know that no form of birth control is 100%. Case in point... my sister had a set of twins and then went on the pill. She got pregnant on the pill and had another set of twins. So the bottom line is for you to know that there is always a risk and don't do the act if you aren't ready for the consequences that may or may not come your way.

It is possible to get pregnant while on birth control. The birth control pill is 98% effective which leaves .02% chance of pregnancy. But this is only if taken correctly (every single day at the same exact time without using any other prescriptions). Condoms are 99% effective if used correctly.

It depends on the form of birth control you're using AND whether you're using it properly.
Taken correctly (i.e. taken at about the same time every day) the Pill is on the order of 99% effective. Meaning the odds of getting pregnant are about 1% each time you have sex.

Each method of birth control has a different failure rate. Here is a list:
Implants and injectables
2-4%
Oral contraceptives
9%
Diaphragm and cervical cap
13%
Male condom
15%
Periodic abstinence
22%
Withdrawal
26%
Spermicides
28%
Bottom line is that as long as you are having sex there is always a chance.

If you are taking it properly then less than 1% chance. I was on the pill for 6 years and had no problems, and yes once in a while I would forget to take one or even two. So even though not impossible your chances are slim.

It would depend on the type of method used. The pill is still considered the "safest" method, but using that method doesn't mean you won't conceive.
It simply means the fertilized egg won't implant in the uterus, since your body is "tricked" into thinking it's already pregnant.
If you are a pro-life anti-abortion type, then this method won't be for you. It isn't for anyone when you consider all the lovely side effects, including strokes, heart attack, circulatory problems that it can cause, but it's the EASIEST method, so most people don't mind the trade off of health and ethics.
(THAT will ensure me alot of thumb-downs, but I'm telling it like it is!)

i was wondering the same thing because a family member said she was on the pill and changed to a different brand and now she's pregnant too. so i guess it's likely if u take an antibiotic while taking them.
