I have used the traditional method of the cleaner that comes with the range and also tried scrapping with a single edge razorblade. I was bringing a water and sugar and vinegar solution to a boil for a salad dressing when it boiled over. This isa new appliance so am hoping there is a remedy!!

We use the special cleaner for smooth tops, which sounds like you've tried. My wife gobs the stuff on the stain, so it's covered with the cleaner and lets it sit overnight, and then scrapes it off. Hope it works for you.

Put a generous amount of cleaner on the area, and then cover it with several layers of wet paper towel. This will keep it wet so the cleaner can penetrate the build-up. You may have to let it sit, scrape, and then repeat.

The only thing I've found to work, is a razor blade.
I used one that's in a metal holder thing, made just for this type of thing. Great for scraping off mirrors, windows, etc.

Try pouring straight ammonia onto the stuff then cover with plastic wrap overnight. It should come off the next day.

Try soaking the area in lighter fluid or gasoline (for god's sake be careful though & turn off the pilot ligts if your stove has them. Often petroleum products like this eat away at organic stains, but won't harm the enamel on your stove. (I also use them to get stains out of clothes)
