Because when they get older they may find it hard to be a housekeeper or janitor so they should have some other options to fall back on.
PS - I believe the term is 'sanitation engineer'. ;)

Education is the process by which an individual is encouraged and enabled to develop fully his or her innate potential; it may also serve the purpose of equipping the individual with what is necessary to be a productive member of society. Through teaching and learning the individual acquires and develops knowledge, beliefs, and skills.
It is widely accepted that the process of education begins at birth and continues throughout life. Some believe that education begins even earlier than this, as evidenced by some parents' playing music or reading to the baby in the hope it will influence the child's development.
Education is often used to refer to formal education (see below). However, it covers a range of experiences, from formal learning to the building of understanding and knowledge through day to day experiences. Ultimately, all that we experience serves as a form of education.
Individuals receive informal education from a variety of sources. Family members, peers, books and mass media have a strong influence on the informal education of the individual.

Because no one should PLAN on being a janitor. The real reason is that they still should know how to count their money.

Because, literacy is important in any occupation. You need to know basic math and Reading in order to become either one. You have to know how to read lables and measure out chemicale for cleaning, and know what chemicals not to mix together, so there are some very important reasons as to why you should still continue in school, even if those are the occupations that some people choose to become.

To have any sort of finished education, whether it be a high school diploma or just your ba, is good. If you ever change your mind, having SOME sort of education to back you up is a must.
"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 80% of the fastest-growing jobs in the United States require some sort of higher education after high school..."
