An estimated 500 prisoners in Guantanamo.
Only 10 (yes, ten) charged.
490 remaining prisoners not proven guilty of any crime.
Who is America trying to fool? They're only fooling themselves, pretending that the Bush regime is necessary for world safety? And now the Congress has agreed to Bush' suggestion to allow the prisoners in Guantanamo (and other more or less secret US prisons around the world) to be treated outside of the law. What are laws for? Aren't they supposed to be valid for everyone? Presidents do not have the right to act outside of the law. Bush is none better than Hitler himself. He is absolutely NOT indispensable for the world's safety. In fact, he is the biggest threat to world safety since a meteore whiped out the dinosaurs. When will the American people throw him off his throne? How long will they continue to accept his lies? When is it that the world will finally see Bush's heinous face behind bars?

I don't want Bush to die. I want him to get the same "humane" and "according to the Geneva convention" treatment that he is giving the innocent people in Guantanamo and other prisons. How much longer can Bush get away with this genocide, this Holocaust of muslims?

Leogirl you are a very blind and naive person and you should seek help for that. Those "enemy combatants" you are talking about are innocent people, their only crime being their faith. Yes, there are terrorrists and yes, some of them are muslims. But that doesn't justify the retention of innocent people.

JH, I'd be happy if they were to be sent to my home, so they can finally be free and return to their families.

Colorado, you are the one who is pathetic. When innocent people are being tortured, they commit desperate acts to try to get free from their tormentors. If you don't understand that you are a naive fool.

I'm not trying to fool anyone.
There is nothing that I, personally, can do, except the sorts of things I've done.
The terrorists (and I mean the current administration) have control of my government.
I would love nothing more than to see them all stand trial for crimes against humanity, but that ain't happening soon.
IF we get a Congress with enough true Americans in it, they could start to impeach these freaks, but we have no true opposition party left in this country.
Actually, as great a believer in the prohibition against torture as I am, I'm sorely tempted to exclude those responsible for the torture of others -- or at least make them THINK all the same stuff is going to be happening to them. Really let them sweat it. Maybe, just before sentence is carried out, sit each one in a room and say "Now do you get it?"
As for what to do, I just don't know. We've had two fraudulent elections in a row. We simply don't have a legal apparatus for declaring a stolen election void.
Even worse, whoever gets in power next is unlikely to have any more genuine comitment to basic principles of humanity than this lot -- though they probably won't be quite as bad.
Just know, not all of us support these freaks. Many millions of us feel as you do. We just don't have any power.

Leogirl, there are international laws. You must be dumber than a cow to even think what Bush is doing is remotely legal anywhere in the world.
Angel's Raising Hell, I hope you go to another country, get raped and tortured by wild locals. After all, who cares? You didn't sign no Geneva Convention.
Colorado, u idiot, trying to kill prison guards make you terrorists? What point are you trying make?
Soon or later, we will all look back and wonder how things got so bad here in the US. Soon or later, we will wonder how we still haven't learned the lessons after the innocent murder of all those "witches" and "communists" not so long ago. I am so ashamed to be an american citizen.

Guantanamo is full of peopl from many different countries including ausralia the english prisoners were sent home to britton and yes they are being treated outside the laws of america and the geneva convention, why you ask that is a simple question with a simple answer the american government doese not want its people to find out about the origins of alqueada this organisation was funded trained and suplied by america to overthrow saddam hussien back in the 80s but they refused to spill arab blood and were then outlawed. many people from all over the world including america jioned this organization when it was legally reconized the american govt has many such organizations operating in many countries and it is not for the security of the people but for the security and continued wealth of the companies that back the government

oh i wish the world would stop arguing over these sort of issues, why cant people just get along?
why is it that human nature is to become enimies with its own kind??
dont people see that it doesnt matter what culture, race, religion etc you are - what matters is that we are, at the end of the day, ALL EQUAL!!
if people would stop to think about this they would realise, yes people have done terible terible things in the past, but by fighting back we are just as bad! wouldnt the innocent victums of war want the fighting to stop so that no one else would suffer??
is revenge the answer? no it is not.
is violence the answer?no it is not.
if the world could just take a second to think about this, it would be a safer, more peaceful place.

How long did it take you to get this way? Were you dropped at birth?
Crimes, these are not criminals, they are terrorists. Let me tell you a short story. A terrorist in a communal cell was wrapping a bed sheet around his own neck. The guard seeing this called the quick response team in to stop him and save his life. The quick response team ran into the cell and immediately fell to the ground. The Terrorists all than jumped them and proceeded to try and kill them. They fell because the terrorists wet, soaped and pissed on the floor so the people would fall. This was only in the medium security wing. Who were the quick response team members, only young kids who felt it was their duty to protect this nation from these animals and were trying to perform an act of mercy.
You sir, are pathetic.

there is lots of things i dont like about bush but finaly he did some thing right.you have to treat guantanamo prisoners different then any one elise.they are different. they hate us and want to see all americans dead. if we was to let them go it would not take more then a few weeks to regroup and come after us a gain. we make laws to pertect us from the bad guys.and yes the law needs to be the same for all americans.and it is for the most part. you say bush is no better then hilter. im sorry i missed the news last nite did bush gas millions of people last nite.of course he didnt.like i said i dont like a lot of bushes ideas but hitler he is not. are we any safer? i think we are.are we safe enough no.more needs to be done. that takes a smarter mind then mine (and for sure yours) bush will proubley be gone come next election.maybe the next president will have a new plan that works better.thats yet to be known. all i know is you cant say bush and hilter have any thing in common.................you seem to think your so smart why dont you run for prisdent.........

The problem with the first answer to this, is that the United States is violating the rights of it's own citizens. We've imprisioned some, as well as "rendered" others to countries which do torture.

The laws of the United States are for Legal Citizens of the United states. Not enemy combatants who do not wear a uniform. You are a very high strung person, and you really should seek help for that.

Why don't you fight for people like the homeless, or for children instead of these pieces of human waste that would sooner cut your head off than talk to you.
