Run msconfig ( from start >> Run)
and goto the startup tab...
remove the check marks against those programs which you dont want to start.
Thee will be many programs you'e unfamiliar with.. what programs to uncheck is depends upon you.
I usually uncheck all except the antivirus program... as all others are unimportant.
after finishing this u'll have to reboot for changes to take place.

Uncheck Load Startup Items
Click OK and restart your computer...
Run Windows Defender
Download it here...

Once you are done scanning return your settings on the Configuration Utility.

Most spyware utilities (spybot search & destroy for example) have a section that lets you edit your startup programs by simply clearing the check mark next to it.
Some programs may stop working if you disable the wrong one, but you can always go back and enable them. Do not delete the entries, only disable them.
