I see MANY dumb questions pertaining to this topic from you and I have not seen even 1 Conservative say, "his sex life is his own business" NOT EVEN ONE!

We all say that is is GOOD that he resigned.

KOOKOO - your names says it all. Here are the first 2 paragraphs of that article...

WASHINGTON - House Speaker Dennis Hastert said Monday no Republican leaders saw lurid Internet exchanges from former Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record) to pages and he would have demanded his ouster if he'd known about them.

"As a parent and speaker of the House, I am disgusted," Hastert, R-Ill., told reporters after holding a meeting at the Capitol in the wake of the disclosure of the e-mails in 2003 to a page, which led to Foley's resignation last Friday. The page's home state was not immediately cited.

hichefhei...I have condemned Foley in MANY posts. He is a pervert and should be locked up. Did I MENTION Bill by name - no - YOU DID! SHAME on you...

I am NOT using this question to DIVIDE us. I keep seeing stupid Foley questions and they all say we Republicans support this - WE DON"T! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND SUPPORTS A PEDOPHILE. That's all I'm saying. If we are all against Foley - why do the libs on here keep accusing us of being FOR him? That prompted this question.

Ahmed Al Akbarri - I think you are the ONLY liberal that condemns Foley without insulting US conservatives. Good for you!

Let's get in perspective here:

As a democrat I feel that this whole Foley thing is heinous.

McGreevey had no right to stick his johnson in Mr. Whites behind.

Clinton had no right to stick a cigar in an iterns vagina.

These male and female teachers having sex with students is clearly wrong.

These judges in Vermont and Ohio letting pedophiles off with out jail time is wrong.

Cmon, fellow Democrats AND Republicans we all know right from wrong. Unfortunately it is more common opn the Dems side that we need to get the blinders off and call a spade a spade but some of you Pubs are off base too.

Politics must move aside when it come to protecting our CHILDREN!!!

First of all, I don't see a significant number of liberals on here saying that anyone is trying to protect Foley NOW except himself. However, evidence is coming forward which indicates that GOP leaders tried to hush this up for the past year or so, even Hastert possibly back as far as spring, when Rep Reynolds of the election committee told him about it. (Note the page's representative told the elections committee rep and not the ethics committee rep, shows where his priorities are.) And the parents, were they pressured into not making this a big deal? Most parents would be concerned that he would prey on other pages. Making him promise not to do it again is useless. This type of behavior is highly addictive, requiring one to receive psychological counseling before it evolves to something worse. (Who knows, it may have already, during the time of the cover-up.) I think that Hastert, et al, are just NOW calling this behavior "vile" is hypocritical. They should have acted when they found out about it. They may have even succeeded in keeping it discrete.

Oh, and Clinton's situation was clearly bad judgment, but between two consenting adults. The fact that Lewinsky talked about earning her presidential knee pads proves she was just as consenting as he was. The fact he tried to hide it was not worth the $60 million investigation. No Clinton indictments on travelgate, Whitewater, or MonicaGate.

That's not even relevant. Who in their right mind is going to support pedophilia?? You really go to any extremes to bash Liberals, why don't you just accept the fact that your "perfect" Republicans are just like the rest of humanity.........good & bad. Let this be a lesson to you the next time you put conservatives on a pedistal. No one group is better than any other.

They are supporting people who have known about the e-mails for a year. These Republicans were supposed to be looking out for the welfare of these young boys and did not!
As far as "sex life being his own business" that would have only applied with a consenting adult and not with a minor child!

Hey look back at my questions.

I was surprised at how many NeoCons pleaded Foley's case.

I don't care if the man is in Ralph Nader's Green Party. He is reprehensible.

Just because the South has 10 and 12 year old age of consent it does not cool my animosity.

I don't expect anyone to support Foley, but I did see a really alarming question....it was

when the smoke is cleared and Foley is ruined will it be revealed that it was all a made up smear by the dems?

That is a scary position to take, regardless of party affiliation.

OK. I'm liberal and I hear you on this. (just this ;) lol!)

Pedophilia is a horrible disease and nobody in their right mind should ( or would) support such a thing. Foley and whoever else commits such crimes against innocent children belong in jail

Well of course not, don't be silly.
They're politicians. They're like rats. When the boat is loaded with good stuff, they're the first to climb in. When the boat starts to sink, they're the first to rush out.
It's not just Republicans. Democrats are the same.
In fact, most politicians, in most countries, of all parties are like that.

I am a conservative.... I support putting Foley's azz in prison if the evidence warrants it. I also still support putting bill clinton in prison where he belongs... it is obvious that Foley was not a true conservative.... his sex life proves that.

perhaps if conservatives didn't act like they are a party of 'morals' (indicating that other parties are not, and that republicans are all moral) you wouldn't find yourself defending your party right now...I haven't found one saying they support him, or one saying that what he did was wrong (only that it is good that he resigned.) I also don't hear any of you apologizing to the gay community for erroneously blaming pedophilia on them. In fact I haven't seen a republican embrace the impact of this even on the party, just calmly sweep it under the rug...Nice of you to make a reference to Clinton, even in this case. Shameless RLP, shameless...

No way, RLP, don't twist my words around. You know damn well that you made a Clinton reference. Don't get mad at me for calling it what it is.

Besides, if this is something we all agree on, why are you using it to divide us?

RLP, you must realize that you are telling dems not to generalize, in the same breath that you are generalizing all dems to be acting this way. So yes, you are generalizing, and dividing, yourself. BTW, this was the first question I answered regarding Foley, becuase it was inflammatory towards dems (and NOT towards Foley) Check your question again, and ask yourself...who am I condemning? Libs, or Foley?
