Who knows? That is the accepted norm.
My father, whose vision is becoming weak, uses all caps because it's easier for him to see what he's typing.

The same folks who say it's rude to pick your nose in public, fart out loud, burb at the kitchen table, etc.

It's known as communal culture etiquette. A community decides what is acceptable and unacceptable (i.e., "rude") behavior. Ever since the earliest days of usenet and other text based messaging platforms in the seminal days of the internet, ALL CAPS has been universally used for emphasis, and ALL CAPS HAS BEEN USED FOR SHOUTING.

Picture a man in an elevator WHO ONLY YELLS AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS.

Everyone else around him will naturally conclude HE HAS AN ANGER PROBLEM (or something similar). No matter if he claims "I didn't realize" - the community concludes based upon historically established communal etiquette how to interpret his communication.

Same thing for messaging on the net. Take the time to articulate your thoughts intelligently, and you'll be taken more seriously. And you'll be able to express yourself with greater precision.

Best to you.

Or, should I say...."BEST TO YOU!!!!"

ITS BEEN AROUND FROM WHEN EMAIL STARTED. BASICALLY WHEN YOU WANT TO PUT AN EMPHASIS ON SOMETHING, YOU TYPE IN CAPS, THEREFORE TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS YELLING IN THE INTERNET WORLD.

It's so stupid...people somewhere got it in their heads that all caps means someone is yelling at you. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!

I don't know that it's ' rude ' but it's cerainly incorrect, unless the format doesn't allow dramatic license as in emphasis.
