Pop culture stands for popular culture, which is anything to do with TV, Movies, Music and fads and trends of any given time. For instance, in the 70s pop culture was Farrah Fawcett-Majors, Leif Garrett and everyone was singing the old Mc Donald's jingle "You deseve a break today". Today pop culture is Paris Hilton, Ludacris and The new McDonald's jingle "Bada ba ba ba I'm lovin' it!"

A lot of nerds get angry because they have nothing else to do. Its probably one of the few things they know a LOT about so they like to get LOUD when correcting something. Don't worry and don't take it personally, they just are passionate about pop culture. I am passionate too, but when someone gets a pop culture reference wrong, I just chalk it up to the fact that not everyone watches the changing American Culture like us pop nerds do and that's alright with me. Just let them think they are bright and go on with your day.. LOL :-)

"Pop" is short for "popular" culture - as in celebrities and gossip, modern movies, music, current fads, clothing, etc. Basically, everything you'd be exposed to if you watched a show like E! News or The Daily 10.
