You'll have to extend everything that goes to the axles and it will become even more top heavy. I recommend just going with the largest tires that will fit under the existing fenders and add a steering stabilizer to cut down on tire vibration and wander.

Lifting 3" isn't worth the investment as you can get close to that with the larger tires. If it's going to be a rock climber or other off road only vehicle, a 6" lift would help and cost about the same as a 3" lift. This is not legal for street use in some areas and is dangerous to drive on the highways anywhere.

Use a kit not just cut off pipe take your time have several floor jacks flat driveway blocks of wood 4x4 and 2x4's. Yes the steering shaft has to be longer, brake lines will straighten out and drive line will be un altered now what are going to do with the radiator fan? I would get 14" flex-a-lite electric replacement with thermostatic switch. and junk the clutch fan real power robber. It will look great when you get done. But now the suspension kits quad shocks steering dampers and big honking tires...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
