I was in the midwest visiting friends over the weekend and noticed that several men had belts on with brass plaques with their names on it. Why do they do that???

I live in the midwest and it something that has been very fashionable for about 3 years now. It is just a way for people to know who you are thats all. I have a belt myself

The girls get around a little bit more in the Midwest. Anyway, when a guy leaves a girls house he might leave his belt. This is a sure way to get the right belt back to the right guy.
Well... Truthfully, they do this for two reasons.
Status: Personalized belt buckles are typically more expensive than standard belt buckles.
Attraction: When a guy has writing on him it draws more attention from people because people are drawn to see what is written. A girl looks down to read his name and notices his sexual presence.

Well, I agree with Shirley, but maybe I can explain a little bit. It is a 'macho' thing. Cowboys are macho men (very nice guys!!) and it is just a bragging thing. No offense is meant.

The same reason blacks in the northern big cities do. Oh or why the blacks wear them around their necks. Oh or for the same reason the black wear them on their rings.
