Neither of those. It is not evil, but it is the eve of the most important holiday on the Wicca (witch's) calendar: Samhain, the middle of autumn and the end of the three harvest festivals. This is the harvest of the animals that will provide meat for the smokehouse to last through the winter. So yes, it's about blood and death: the death of the animals slaughtered for food to sustain the community.
No, it's not just fun, but it certainly is a lot of fun to dress up and go trick-or-treating, and to have parties where you bob for apples and tell ghost stories.

Let me just say I am 31 I have 2 kids 14 & 12. When I grew up I wasn't always aloud to celebrate Halloween because my grandma is really really religeous, she didn't even allow trick or treaters to come to her door. Well my mom was ok with it, but we couldn't always afford a costume. So we made them, but by then I was older and all the kids would laugh because I would dress up still. Either way.... now that I have kids of my own & I LOVE IT!. Besides xmas it is my favorite holiday. We love the idea of making the costumes and getting together with friends to come up with new stuff. At the same time they also know that I am very intent on them knowing that this is in no way celebrating evil!. My children aren't allowed to use things like fake guns & knives. I am ok with certain things but there is not to much evilness involved. I can't agree with those types of things....I saw a little girl dressed as a prostitute....(that is overboard)!

The only thing evil about Halloween is the connotations placed on it by christians who think that anything not centred on god is evil. Halloween is the best!!

It depends on who you are. If you like sacrificing on Halloween and doing EVIL things then yes, It's evil. For me, i like to dress up, get candy, and have fun, so it's NOT EVIL.

Halloween is what u make of it!
In general most people think of it as a fun night
to go out and dress up in your wildest fantasy
or funniest getup. It is a night to let your hair
down and go out and be funky...

seems yet another one missed the point on halloween.
it's a celebration of the dead.. why not be thankful to those who were in your life and aren't now and celebrate their lives this halloween?
instead of this evil or just for candy deal?

Just fun. I have a kid and raise her to think it is just for fun, however there is a history to it. I haven't ran in to any evil on the Holiday yet!

i think it depends how you celebrate it.
christmas can be pagan. Do you celebrate the fun of dressing up and getting candy, or do you try to scare people, and chase evil spirts away? dont drink blood either. that is evil.
