If the people like trhe president have emails should'nt it be public record like the Nixon Tapes wer sopoed to be.

That is false... however, a record is generally kept of all emails they send.
When Bush took office, he stated to his friends that he will be abandoning his private e-mail due to the scrutiny of it.
