I worked out that the first derivative was 1 over 1 - cosx, but my calculator says something different, 1 over cosx - 1. Help?

I got the first derivative as:

(cosx - 1)/(1-cosx)²

So, the second derivative that I got was:

sinx / (1-cosx)²

Maybe other people can check this result is correct.

You had some mistake in the first derivative. Use the derivative division rule :

(f/g)´ = (f´g - fg´)/g^2 ( ...after simplifying we get )

y´= -1/(1-cosx) = 1/(cosx -1)

Don't you guys wish Yahoo Answers would let us enter mathematical expressions properly, instead of having to use parenthesis, and put everything on one line?
