growth is bad for everything EXCEPT the economy ( and only good for it because it's structured that way )

the best society would be the opposite - falling population leading to less pollution and stretching out the lifespan of resources - this is not a good thing if you want to expand your chain of coffee shops tho

to be vary precise the ideal condition is the straight line in longrun growth.. ie unfluctuating and steady and just enough to counter the other growing factors.. although people have been arguing since 17th century that growth is bad as it depltes the resources but we should realize one thing ie not growing is not a choice for us un less we are plannig for 3rd world war or something(that will put brakes on growth of most of the world for sure. but still it wont stop depletion) ...

wht we need to do is that unlike malthusian aproach in which malthus gave pridiction of a dismial figure of world by yr 2000... we should work hard on reducing the gap of scarcity....by expanding our resources... and to do that most importantly we will have to fully convert towards renewable sources... if that is done i hope u wont find growth very bad tooo... and mind you it is the resullt of growth that we are having a communication such as this one ;)

I'm in favour of it. It makes people better off. It doesn't necessarily make them happier (only peace of mind can do that, and that's an inner change, not an outer one), but not having it would sure make them unhappier (because of unemployment and lack of things).
