"Comic book appraisals will give you a good idea of how much money you could get for your collection of comic books if you were to sell the titles individually or if you were to auction off the collection. One of the ways you can do this yourself is to consult one of the many price guides that are available for comic book collectors. These guides will tell you the value of the titles and will explain how you can grade the physical condition of your books. The comics that are in mint condition (look like they are still new) will be worth a lot more than ones that have missing pages or the cover torn.
There are many people who are experts at doing comic book appraisals. If you want to bring in your collection to a comic book store, more than likely there will be someone there who can do an appraisal of the books and tell you how much it is worth. You do have to be careful though, because if you are looking to sell the collection, these people will usually not give you the full value. If they hope to resell the collection they will offer you a far lower price because they want to make a profit when they resell the books.
You can get in contact with a person who does comic book appraisals by doing a search on the Internet or by attending a comic book convention. These people will be able to tell you what your collection would bring at auction, but most importantly they will tell you whether or not you should have the collection insured. If you have a collection in your home that is worth thousands of dollars you should have it appraised for insurance purposes. If an accident should occur, you wouldn't want all your efforts in collecting to be lost because you didn't have it insured for the proper amount."
