I used to attend Hampton University. We had one at the end of freshman year, and another one at then end of senior year. I guess it depends on the school you go to. My other university didn't have any sort of formal event.

Fraternities and Sororities have dances. I know they have Spring Formals and Valentine Dances.. i dont think it is a university/college sponsored event though.
