Or do you just save a set amount like $100 or $50? Any good saving tips or advice?

Depends what kind of responsibilities you have.
I'm married with two kids. I have them take 8% into my 401K every paycheck- plus we invest some too. Anything left over- goes to savings.
If your a kid at home- you should save at least 75% of what you make. This will help you get out into the world when your ready.

35% - 25% to 401k and 10% to IRA, doesn't include amount to savings account either which is 60% of the net difference. We live off my husband's pay and let my pay be the nest egg funds.

Besides a 401K, I've heard that you should save 15% of your pay

i got a box (instead of the rip-offs we call banks) and after i pay bills and do my shopping i keep about 20 in my wallet and the rest goes to the box. soon you'll be so excited to fill the box; that it will help u save

sorry-don't get just ANY box! but a small safe and keep it hidden
