There are a few reasons. First and foremost is the offensive lineup. It will look something like this:
1) Damon (CF)
2) Jeter (SS)
3) Abreu (RF)
4) Giambi (DH)
5) A-Rod (3B)
6) Sheffield (1B)
7) Matsui (LF)
8) Posada (C)
9) Cano (2B)
Then, off the bench, you've got Melky Caberea and Bernie Williams, who have proven they're both ready to get a big hit (Bernie of course has a great career but is old, but can still do it. Melky is a clutch rookie).
Next, look at the road they have. The Tigers are in a major slump, and at most will win one game. If they get the A's in the ALCS, then it's another cakewalk, but I'm thinking they'll get the Twins, who while having a remarkable season, will not be able to win a 7-game series without Liriano.
Finally, the NL is in shambles. I'm thinking the Dodgers and the Padres will come out of the NLDS, and then probably the Dodgers will represent the NL in the World Series. It'll be a fun series to see the Yankees and Dodgers, but the Yankees are just the better team. This is all assuming that Randy Johnson doesn't pitch well either. If he is on, then the Yankees are a lock to win this year.

Here's a few:
- No Red Sox
- No White Sox
- No Angels
- No threats in the National League
One thing gets me, though... it just seems too perfect...

The Yankees have the best line up from 1-9 in the playoffs AL or NL...when your 9 hitter(Cano) has the 3rd best BA in the AL that's pretty impressive...Wang is amazing, and Moose and Randy will be good...and of course you have the greatest closer in the game Mariano...nuff said

Tigers are falling apart.
A's can't get out of the first round.
Twins can't beat the Yankees.
Mets have no pitching.
LaRusa can't win the big one.
Dodgers are just happy to be there.
Padres are the Padres.
Yankees win = better TV ratings

They have been the most dominate team all season. They have finally solved their pitching problems. Look at the numbers Team batting avg, team home runs, team runs scored, all in teh top five in the league. Now the best reason. It's their best line up since 2000.

There are no reasons because they won't,they have made to the playoffs the last 5 years and haven't won yet and they will keep that streak alive.

Good lineup, but the pitching will do them in. I don't think that Randy Johnson will be up to par this post season. Tigers will take it.
