I thought the word was "coy" but I looked that up and that's not the word I was looking for.

A word that describes a person who purposely acts like they don't have a clue durring a conversation just to avoid addressing a certain issue(s).

i went to dictionary.com and typed in acting into the thesaurus. there are lots of words that could work for you there:

I like what the guy said about feigning. Feign could be a word you could use (I assume in an essay).

I believe the Australians would say' Don't come the raw prawn, mate' and over in the UK we would say, 'don't come the old acid'
