More than likely it is hypoglycemia. The nurse cannot diagnose. Only a trained physician can really determine what you have. Go with your family doctor's diagnosis.

The symptoms could be either. Have a normal blood test, not by the finger. Go to a good lab or hospital and have a blood test. It is an easy test: if your hemoglobin is <12, you have anemia, if not, you are fine. If your sugar level is lower than 60-70 (I think), you have hypoglycemia. Careful, because hypoglycemia could indicate you have a tendency for diabetes, look into it.

A third opinion does seem necessary. The symptoms to me sound more like anemia rather than hypoglycemia. Having had severe hypoglycemia as a child, the symptoms were just the opposite, I was off the wall with energy (hyper) almost all of the time. I low sugar, high protein diet helped.

Why not treat both? Consume more iron in either pill or food form. If you don't know what foods contain a lot of iron, go online to research. This will help if you have anemia. If you don't hasve anemia, it can't hurt you.

Then, eat more regularly. If you'r ewlike most young women, you don't eat much to stay slim. Eat something at least every couple of hours. Eat healthy, like fruit and cheese and crackers, a peanut butter sandwich and milk, etc. This will help keep your blood sugar even. Lay off chips, candy and soda if you normally eat those as they cause sugar spikes, then sugar lows.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) actually is not similar to Diabetes, as it is not a disease. It is either because of a. the sugar in your blood is too low usually when you haven't eatten a long period of time or b. medication or alcohol use. Your pancreas is working fine and such you just need to eat more frequently or things with sugar in them.
For example, I have HG, when I feel faint or like I just need to take a nap I drink a glass of orange juice or eat an apple. Its the natural sugars you need in your body to help raise your blood sugar and make you feel "normal" again.

Hypoglycemia is where your blood sugar gets too low (opposite of diabetes). So sometimes when you feel that was, you may want to drink a soda and have a candy bar or something to get some sugar in your body. Always helps my friend that has it. :)

Consider using a BLOOD GLUCOSE MONITOR. My own mother had (Type-1) Diabetes and she used this on a routine basis until her passing. Although she passed away with hyPERglycemia (High blood sugar) I know that you can measure your blood sugars using the same technique.
%A "common" blood sugar level is anywhere between 65 p.p.m. and 75 p.p.m.
Measure anywhere below the 65 mark and CONGRATULATIONS! you are a true candidate!
These Blood monitors should be available at your local Wal Mart outlet.
%My common blood-sugar level is 70 p.p.m. and I am watching it like a hawk!

Try eating a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. Then a snack at 9:30. Lunch at noon. Snack at three. Dinner at six. Try to make the snacks decent stuff like fruit. You have to eat five times a day but make it small portions.
And exercise!

One important thing is to change your diet. You have to increase your fiber intake - it'll help with sugar absorption rates in your body and help to regulate fat synthesis as well.
Also be sure to get as much EXERCISE as possible because MOVEMENT will make your fat cells and muscle cells more sensitive to glucose - Watch your diet and watch your body. You have a sensitive condition that needs careful attention but don't worry too much! Stress is UNNECESSARY!

How about getting a third opinion? Go to another doctor and see what they say.
