Loaches can get aggressive when housed singly (they definitely prefer company of the same kind). Put three together and they will be even more happy.

If by black and gold sucking loaches you are talking about the loaches that look like mini sea snakes and are black with yellow rings around them, I had two in a tank for years without problem.

All loaches will work out the 'packing' order in the tank after the initial 'sizing up' of each other.

Black and Gold loaches are clown loaches and are very peaceful and not territorial so they will be fine with more than one.

loaches get on well with most fish we have had 4 for nearly 6 years no problems
