You could always go to High Point University and take Theater classes. I went to Catawba College in Salisbury, they have a very good theater program as well. That is probably your best bet if you want to stay close to home. Lots of movies are filmed in Wilmington though, that would be a good place to be if you are an aspiring actor.

Sometimes you need to drive to find a good acting class.

I drive an hour and fourty five minutes one way to get to an acting class in Orlando once a week... I also drive for an hour and fifty minutes (again, one way) to get to an acting class just north of Fort Lauderdale once a week...

Then there are the networking meetings.....

Call the community theaters in your city and ask them if they know where you can take acting classes. Some theaters teach acting.
