that sounds good, it depends on the baby. How long is he? If your doctor had a concern I am sure she would have let you know

Don't worry about it...when my daughter went in for her 4 month needles, she weighed 17 pounds as well...a friend of mine, her son was 22 pounds at 4 months...I think thats a bit much...but same as the other, if something wasn't right, the doctor would have said something.

What did your doctor say? Everyone is different as long as your son is health and a happy baby and your doctor is not concerned then you should not be. I have a friend who has three girls and when they were four months old, they weighed between 20-30 pounds they were big kids. If you are truely worried discuss it with your doctor.

My son weighed 16 lbs. at 4 months. So, I guess it's OK. Unless your doctor says something about it. Sounds like a healthy baby to me.

Well when my almost 6 mth old son went for his 4 mth needles he was 21 lbs, so don't worry about it. As long as the doctor says it is fine, don't stress about it.

Weight of newborns and infants show a wide range in values. If your doctor is not concerned, then you shouldn't be either.
Here are the growth charts from the CDC:
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/about/major/nhanes/growthcharts/charts.htm
Specifically for boys, 0-36 months:
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhanes/growthcharts/set1/chart01.pdf
Your son seems to be in the 90th percentile, roughly.

i'm not sure if they still use the same rule of thumb regarding a babys weight as they did when my children were babies, but, it used to be, double the birth weight at six months and treble at a year.

I think for the first few years at least. Fatten them up for whatever life holds for them. Big kids get teased less.

its a bit hefty... but it depends on your race and nationality.
if he is breastfed, then you might want to cut back on how often you feed.
but dont worry, weight management should only be an issue later in years
good luck
