The Wolverine tie ins are possibly the best. It has Nitro (the spark that lit the flame of the Civil War) getting his comeuppance, Has an aggressive Logan (who goes toe to toe with Namor), and a looming conspiracy that potentially has ramifications beyond his own title (Damage Control, anyone?)....
Plus Humberto Ramos's art is kicka**!

No I wouldn't, because I happen to enjoy Civil War. But your question does raise some interesting points. If super heroes are more powerful than any government than why shouldn't they over throw the government and take over the world? They wouldn't because as heroes they are sworn to uphold the law. But what to do if the law happens to be unjust, should they uphold it? That is the conflict that is seen in Civil War, you have one group of heroes who are following the law, and another group that doesn't believe in it and have chosen not to follow it. For years the Marvel Universe has been in a state where the super hero community is not unified, where heroes do mostly what they want and consider themselves "loners". This is a sharp contrast to the DC universe where if you have powers you pretty much have a card as a reserve JLAer. Because of that we have the Civil War of today. I think the process could be much smoother in the Marvel universe, but what's the point of reading a comic book where there's no conflict.

I would recommend Amazing Spiderman. But the true winner is the actual Civil War series. Nothing by Marvel has even come remotely to the suspense created by that last issue. Most of these tie ins are virtually non-existant. For instance, Heroes for Hire was only a tie in because they were working for the government, and didnt do too much character development. Thor's appearance as well as Captain America's escape from SHIELD forces was spectacular.
However, of hte ones you recommend, Amazing spiderman has been amazing. As you guys know, Spiderman reveals himself to the public but to make it worst, he becomes guilty over the death of a certain character and turns against Iron Man and hte Pro-Registration forces. He has become the poster boy of the SHR and he continues to fight with himself.

I've heard good things about Cable and Deadpool that it got better considering it was really going down hill before Civil War.
