Not even original. Back in the 1970s National Lampoon had a cover with a picture af a dog with a gun to its head and the words "Buy this magazine or we'll kill this dog!"
(After seeing Neffer's answer, he may be right about the wording.)
Give Jason an A+ and tell the idiots to lighten up and get a sense of humor.

Did the professor ask for a positive kind of fame for the dog specifically? Jason did the assignment - he made the dog get a ton of attention - even here on the "questions" site. Jason might get in big trouble but that's not the teacher's problem, is it? I'm thinking that Jason should get an A and the prof needs to be more specific about damage control. Jason needs to know that if a company had hired him to do this then his butt would probably be fired and he might not get a job in the advertising field anymore.

He deserves and A+ for creativity.
But he should also be held accountable for his actions. It is like yelling Bomb in an Airport just to see the reaction of security. Even though there is no bomb, you still have to pay the price for the false alarm.
If you go into a bank or a store with a toy gun and make a threat, even though you don't intend to harm anyone, the court and DA will prosecute, because of the frame of mind of the victims.
I know because i was one of those creative thinkers in Highschool. In Chemistry class I found a solution that made white skin turn brown, so I decided to turn all of the white people in the school brown as a joke, the results were that I was suspended for as long as all of the students were brown. It lasted one week. though i thought that it was funny and clever at the time, I did not realize how serious this situation was. (Well actually my Dad's belt gave me a little more understanding about the situation)
Though I believe that creativity should not be surpressed, we should also know that we will be held accountable for our actions based upon how others are affected.

I say he should get an A...everyone from school, law enforcement and animal activists are talking about it, therefore the dog is world famous. (I'm not saying it's right to threaten to kill a dog, but he did do the assignment as instructed.)

It sounds like Jason succeeded in making the dog famous, so I'd say he should get an A and serious punishment.

A - he did exactly what was assigned. The school should consider that his actions were in no way illegal, did not constitute an actual threat, and were in fact an homage to one of the most infamous magazine covers in history (National Lampoon's Violence issue, with a picture of a dog with a pistol held to its head and the caption "If you don't buy this magazine, we'll kill this dog").

I think he should get an A.
He made the dog famous, so what's the problem?
It's not like he is going to kill the dog, so I think everyone is overreacting.

I think Jason needs help. But he probably has a future on the Fox Television Network.

He deserves an A...he successfully completed the assignment. Nevermind the threat he made, he obviously wasn't going to follow through with that part.
